Hawaii’s cases of COVID-19 are significantly less than any of the other states, mainly due to the state enforcing a 14-day quarantine at the end of March. But that restriction was altered in November, making it now easier to visit Hawaii again safely. The state of Hawaii now requires visitors from out of state to have a negative COVID-19 test result from a trusted testing partner within 72 hours of their flight. You must have everything set up through Travel.Hawaii.gov before you land to receive a unique QR code that allows you to not have to quarantine for 14 days. Government officials are in the airport terminal and you must present your QR code and photo ID upon arrival. You will also need to show your QR code when you check in at Aulani, or any hotel in Hawaii. Disney has enhanced cleaning throughout the resort and includes cleaning details in your room to keep you informed of the many ways they have adjusted their cleaning process to keep guests safe. This includes limited housekeeping during your stay. Housekeeping now comes every couple of days to replace towels and restock amenities. However, you can call housekeeping at any time if there is something you need in between visits. You will also notice hand sanitizing stations throughout the resort. The pools, hot tubs, Waikolohe Stream Lazy River, Menehune Bridge, Keiki Cove Splash Zone waterslides, beach and Rainbow Reef snorkeling are open with lounge chairs throughout the resort set up for social distancing. Masks are not required while in the water or sitting in a lounge chair but are a must when walking around the resort. The spa and Auntie’s Beach House have not yet reopened and character meet and greets are not being offered at this time. But the characters can be spotted throughout the day waiving and interacting with guests from a short distance. Despite the changes and temporary closings there are still plenty of water activities, excursions and tours that are available at the resort and around the island to have a fun and relaxing Hawaiian vacation.
