Don’t let the heat and humidity of Central Florida slow you down this summer. There are plenty of things you can do to keep cool! The Walt Disney World Resort has two water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon that you could easily spend an entire day at. But, here are some tips for staying cool at Disney’s theme parks as well. • Make sure to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and lightweight clothing. Avoid dark colors as they will absorb heat. • Visit outdoor attractions in the morning or evening and take advantage of air-conditioned, indoor attractions in the afternoon when the sun is at its peak. The parks have plenty of indoor shows and attractions to keep you cool. • If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, use those Extra Magic Hours and get to the parks early. You’ll be able to get to more attractions while it’s still cool and it will give you extra time to head back to your resort in the afternoon to relax at the pool. You’ll feel refreshed when you head back to the parks in the evening. Plan it right and you may be able to take advantage of Evening Magic Hours as well. • Buy a misting fan. This will come in handy when you’re waiting in line. Disney sells these at each of the parks. But, you can save a little money by purchasing one before your trip. Make sure to pack some extra batteries though. They go quickly. • Make sure to stay hydrated. Most Disney resorts have mini refrigerators. So, you’ll be able to freeze bottles of water so they’ll stay cooler longer when you take them to the parks. You can also stop at one of the many quick-service restaurant locations throughout the parks and get a FREE cup of ice water. • In addition to the water rides, there are many water cooling spots throughout the parks and Disney Springs, including water misters & splash pads. These are great places for kids to let off steam and cool down. Plan ahead and bring towels and a change of clothes. There’s no doubt about it. Florida will be HOT in the summer.
